Girl, I wish it were true!
Truth: sunscreen breaks down when it is exposed to UV light (sunlight and indoor light). The more light you’re exposed to throughout the day, the more often you need to re-apply. If you are having a beach day, that means every 2 hours at a minimum. If you are running errands with the kids all day (intermittent sunlight exposure), that means you can probably stretch it out a little longer between re-applications, but still probably 3-4 times a day.
When is a once daily application enough? Rarely. Unless you spend the day in a dark room without the lights off with blackout curtains and no screen time (ahem, your phone).
I get it. Re-applying sunscreen is hella annoying. Especially if you only use a liquid sunscreen. Who wants to put liquid sunscreen on top of makeup? No one, that’s who.
The answer? Powdered sunscreen.
My two favorites for re-application throughout the day:
I know it’s annoying and a hassle, but if you aren’t spending time and energy protecting yourself from the damaging (and aging) effects of sun exposure... What are you even doing?
I won’t let you waste money on Botox or expensive skin care routines if you won’t use sunscreen. It’s for your own good!
